Please note that Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year will be available online at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

We are offering a choice of 2 full day programs: Monday/Wednesday with scheduled Fridays or Tuesday/Thursday with scheduled Fridays. Please note that the programming that will be available for the 2024-2025 school year is based on the number of registrations received.

Eligibility Starting Date for Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year:
To register for Kindergarten in the 2024-2025 school year, your child must be five years old on or before December 31, 2024. Enter your child's birthday in the EICS Kindergarten Calculator to determine eligibility. 

When can I register online for kindergarten?
All registration for Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2024.

Where are the forms to register online for EICS Kindergarten Programs? 
To register for Kindergarten, please create an account on School Engage and log into the following portal: Student Registration

Where do I get information about Transportation and to arrange busing? 
Elk Island Public Schools and Elk Island Catholic Schools are continuing their cooperative student transportation agreement. This will help reduce the impact of higher insurance and fuel costs, increase direct busing for students where feasible, reduce carbon footprint and address capacity issues for both divisions. The expanded partnership is good news for both EIPS and EICS, as student transportation represents a significant expense for Alberta Education and school divisions.

All busing to schools in Fort Saskatchewan is provided by EIPS.

Nature Kindergarten is an optional program available to students at St. John XXIII and OLA in Fort Saskatchewan. Children will continue in their regular Kindergarten classrooms as per the EICS Kindergarten calendar, attending Nature Kindergarten on the other days providing an option to attend kindergarten full-time. 

This early years enrichment opportunity will allow children to spend the vast majority of their day outside engaged in meaningful ways with their body, mind and spirit while located in a natural setting. Working as a group of explorers, nature-based kindergarten children will be given additional outdoor opportunities to be self-directed through their own curiosity and play. Using multiple natural learning environments, children will develop confidence in their own abilities to investigate and to collaborate outdoors and within their natural environment. Children will be physically active and engaged in movement skills that will facilitate their balance, stamina and strength.

Nature Based Programs - St. John XXIII

• Age requirement is 5 years old by December 31, 2024
• Nature Kindergarten will run Tuesdays, Thursdays and scheduled Fridays for the 2024-2025 school year 
• Fees: $425 per month
