At Saint John XXIII, we are evolving our library into a library learning commons. A learning commons is designed to: engineer and drive inquiry, project/problem-based learning experiences, inspire creativity, and foster collaboration and dialogue. Reading and literacy is present and interwoven into our learning commons. Students continue to select books to take home and each library period, students engage in a read aloud with our librarian.
As we transform into a learning commons, greater opportunities for learning literacies and technology competencies will evolve, and critical thinking, creativity, innovation and playing to learn will flourish. Celebrating a love of books and reading, and imagination continues to be the fabric of our Saint John XXIII learning commons.
