Dear Saint John XXIII Parents & Families,
I hope you are all healthy and safe. We truly miss our Saint John XXIII village. We would like to thank everyone for your patience and understanding as we deal with the current situation in Alberta. The landscape continues to rapidly evolve, and as you have experienced, we are sharing information as it becomes available and as decisions are made provincially. We know you have had many questions and we are grateful that you have given us time to work together and provide you with an accurate and considered response.
The health and safety of our students and one another continues to be our priority. As of today, Alberta Government declared a state of emergency. The decision came two days after the provincial government cancelled all classes indefinitely across Alberta. As we move forward, there are some important next steps. Please read the information below carefully:
Our school division is spending this week (March 16-20) planning and preparing for program continuity, as well as wellness through an online platform. Your classroom teacher will connect with you early next week once a plan has been implemented for delivery of learning online. As always, our faith integration will be the center of who we are and what we do. *Please complete this important 4 question survey linked here Online Accessibility to support your child’s program continuity going forward.
In order to follow directions from the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta and avoid having large numbers of people together in close proximity, we will be staggering pick up of student belongings over two days, Thursday, March 19th and Friday, March 20th.
All student personal belongings and items to assist them in learning while at home are being collected and will be placed into the school gymnasium. Upon arrival at your scheduled time please enter through the main front doors of the school, sanitize, and go directly into the gym. Each class will have a designated area. If you require your child’s medication, please email your child’s teacher tomorrow and we will have it ready during your scheduled time.
Please return any library books belonging to the school at this time.
We recognize that you may want to connect with your child’s teacher during your scheduled time. As mentioned, school administration and teachers are currently working on a plan to support your child’s online learning right now and are unable to meet for one on one conversations during your scheduled pick up time.
If you are unable to come during your scheduled time OR are not feeling well/ self-isolating, please make arrangements for someone else to pick up for you. Please adhere to Alberta Health guidelines listed here before entering the school.
